Fraud, injustice, violence and crime. The media keep hammering us with terrible news, no wonder our view on the world is so negative! But what if we told you we, humans of this world, have actually been doing something right over the last few decades?
This time it won’t be ourselves speaking, but solid data.
The proportion of people living with less than 2$/day has decreased by a factor of 2 since the late 90’s. If we continue on a straight line, we could solve the problem of extreme poverty in a few generations.
However, progress across Sub-Saharan Africa
is in particular need of development.3
Asia benefited especially from the flourishing of a middle class. There’s a growing gap, however, between the middle class and the high earners in western economies.5
But let’s not forget that 264 million children don't go to school yet.7
However, girls are still 1.5 times more likely than boys to be excluded from primary school.9
Still only 23% parliamentary seats are held by women.10
But it still only constitutes 25% of all energy consumed.12
A record 123 million children were immunized globally in 2017 but millions of children are still not reached by potentially life saving vaccines.14
But this still only represents 71% of the world’s population.15
Make the best of it!
Let’s also remember those who don’t have it so easy and keep working towards a better life, for all of us.
